Crocheting with Wire

Writer: Diane DavisDiane Davis

After talking to an artist who knitted with wire at The Vogue Knitting Show, I was determined to try my hand at crocheting with wire. It is something I had been thinking about and even bought some 28 gauge wire awhile back but never made the attempt until now. For guidance I borrowed two books from the library on the subject. My first attempt was so-so because I used seed beads and the stitches were uneven. You have to learn to finesse the wire. I used this tray to control the wire on the second try and it resulted in this chained agate bead bracelet with better finish at the clasp. I think it is salable. I can't wait to use the sterling silver wire to make some one of a kind/size pieces.
