The broomstick stitch is made creating the stitch over the largest crochet hook you own or perhaps something bigger.  Hmmm!  Maybe I will try it.  Hand crocheted strips were made and sewn together to create the vest.  Then I made a lapel with a pretty button and finish the hem.
